All cleaning staff should know about bloodborne pathogens

14 Nov 2023 12:38 PM | Thomas Linzenmeyer

Bloodborne pathogens are infectious microorganisms found in blood and other body fluids. The pathogens may contain many infectious diseases including HIV, Hepatitis B &C.

When cleaning staff come into contact with these pathogens it is important to use universal precautions. Staff should use proper protection including proper gloves. Staff should also know proper handling and disposal of the pathogens as well as soiled items such as gloves & cleaning materials.

By using proper technique and being aware of hazards staff can keep themselves safe as well as any employees, customers, or clients of the place they are cleaning. This  is why all cleaning staff should be trained to handle bloodborne pathogens properly.
