Why is it important to know about bloodborne pathogens for both cleaning employees and staff? The reason being due to the massive risks that they impose on one's health that could either lead to several health complications or even death.

Bloodborne Pathogens by definition are pathogenic microorganisms that are present in human blood and can cause disease in humans. These pathogens including and not limited to, Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).

With that in mind, all cleaning employees should wear the proper PPE for such tasks such as gloves and glasses/goggles. Along side that they should follow the Universal Precautions when they are cleaning either blood or bodily fluids. If an employee or staff were to be exposed to a bloodborne pathogen, they're to follow the protocol and immediately consult with a medical professional.

That is why it is important for cleaning employees and staff to know about bloodborne pathogens.
