There's no other way to clean! Green cleaning is best!

Many people debate about going green.  How clean is it really getting everything?  But in all actuality you're getting the same effect without the toxins.  Many don't know that there's no federal regulation of chemicals in household products.  Rebecca Sutton, Senior Scientist at the Environmental Working Group, explains, "In term of household cleaners, neither ingredient nor products must meet any sort of safety standard, nor is any testing data or notification required before bringing a product to market."

In the cleaning business we're exposed to this more than most.  For example, Perchloroethylene is used in spot removers and carpet and upholstery cleaning.  The EPA classifies this as a possible carcinogen.  Many older buildings have dry cleaning businesses in them, the people there are exposed gravely. They're exposed because PERC is found in many dry cleaning solutions.  A healthier choice would be to go to a wet cleaner.  Its a water based technology rather than chemical solvent.

Another common chemical we use in cleaning Sodium Hydroxide.  It is found in oven cleaners and drain openers.  it is extremely corrosive.  It can cause severe burns if it comes in contact with the skin.  And even cause a sore throat if inhaled.  A safer route would be to make a baking soda paste for the oven and for the drain you can use baking soda and vinegar.

Using these toxins aren't only harming us but its harming the world we live in.  The climate has changed so much in the last 30-40 years.  A big debate now is about global warming.  Global warming is primarily a problem of too much Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere.  A lot of spray cleaning products gives off CO2.

Even though you see a company say they're "Green".  They may not be.  This is known as greenwashing.  Greenwashing is when a company spends more time and money on marketing a green campaign rather than having business practices in place that helps the environment.

As you can see there are many effects using our everyday products have on us and the environment.  We have to do a better job!  What will our great-grands have to deal with as far as the environment and new diseases.  Going green is the only WAY!
