    CenturyVallen to host Safety Week for supporters of safe workplaces

    In a bid to avoid pricey hotel rooms, cheating husbands in Manhattan are having affairs in their own apartments and hiring maids to clean up.

    Cleaning firms are reporting a surge in business over the US summer and "quick-hit cleaning" is being offered for as little as $50, the New York Post reports.

    Little Elves New York spokesman David Brugiatelli said as the economy struggled, more men were having illicit liasons in their own homes.

    "We don't ask - we know that we need to check everything: that there is no hair on the floor, in the shower, no hair in the bathtub, no lipstick, nothing there to show that something happened before," Mr Brugiatelli said.

    One philanderer texted the Handybook maid service: "I need to have a cleaning tomorrow, but the timing is critical. Girlfriend coming to stay for a week stay, needs to be cleaned well and any other female evidence needs to be removed (no hairs, make-up smudges, etc.). I can count on someone coming without question though right?"

    According to the New York Post, requests for last-minute jobs focused on the bedroom.

    Chuck Bennet, 31, is turning the maid stereotype onto its head with his cleaning service: “Maid Men.”

    The one-man company is based in Greenpoint in Brooklyn and provides deep cleaning for $25/hour. Its specialties include getting rid of hardened ramen on stovetops and pigeon poo on windows.

    If your house has descended into a pigsty, fear not! “The dirtier the place is, the more I’m into it. People always apologize, but I’m always like, ‘No, you don’t understand. This is what I do,’” Mr. Bennet said.

    Before setting up the business, he honed his trade at Midtown’s Hotel Elysee. A friend of his came up with the company’s name. It’s as appropriate as it’s catchy – scenes from “Mad Men” were filmed at the Elysee.

    Mr. Bennet describes his work as “empowering.” “I worked a desk job for a couple of years, and I couldn’t stand it,” he said. “I would look at a computer all day. It was just not my type of thing.”
