There are many reasons why properly cleaning healthcare facilities is so important. When dealing with healthcare facilities, you are knowingly entering into a space that houses the sick, injured, or immunocompromised. It could very well be a matter of life or death if you or the area is not properly cleaned and sanitized. Sickness can spread through bodily fluids that can be easily transferred in a healthcare setting. Having extensive knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, possible exposure signs, and proper hygiene for yourself can prevent you or others from dangerous situations. 

One of the best ways that you can protect yourself and others is by learning proper handwashing techniques. Many illnesses are spread simply by not keeping up with personal hand hygiene. Preventing cross contamination in the healthcare setting should always be at the forefront when completing duties. Even if an area is not visibly soiled, there is no way of knowing if the area has been disinfected. Treat all areas in the healthcare setting as if they may be contaminated and always use universal precautions. Be sure to wash your hands correctly and frequently and in between rooms or seeing patients.
