The DOH said that multiple cleaning service employees in the clusters were also family members who lived together.

While professional cleaning services play a major role in reducing the risk of COVID-19 exposure, “pro-curing and providing janitorial and other environmental services while also practicing physical distancing can pose challenges,” the report said.

“All parties must take precautions to protect cleaning industry workers, clients, employers and household members.”

Earlier this month, the Biden administration announced it was moving to expand access to COVID-19 vaccines, freeing up more doses for states and beginning to distribute them to retail pharmacies.

The number of participating pharmacies and the allocation of vaccines are expected to accelerate as drug makers increase production. For now, CVS, Walgreens, Walmart and Sam's Club are among neighborhood pharmacies that have already begun to administer vaccines to eligible recipients under the federal retail pharmacy program.

Currently, CVS is offering COVID-19 vaccinations to "eligible populations" at a limited number of locations in 11 states. CVS said the vaccines will be offered on an "appointment-only basis." Appointments can be made online or through the CVS Pharmacy app. If eligible recipients don't have access to either, they can contact customer service.

A janitor has become an internet sensation after he was caught on camera making an incredible basketball trick shot as he cleaned the school courts.

Joe Orians, who is the custodian at Liberty-Benton Middle School in Findlay, in Ohio was filmed on CCTV nonchalantly bouncing a ball as he strolled across the empty court.

He then stood with his back to the hoop and without taking a glance over his shoulder launched the ball backwards.

Yesterday morning, about 30 janitors across Denver called on Commercial Cleaning Services (CCS), the largest employer of janitors in Colorado, to stop reducing their work hours at a time when cleaning requires more time due to stringent COVID-19 cleaning protocols.

The actions of CCS, says Denver janitor Cynthia Rosales in a press release from the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 105, not only compromise the safety of offices and other places cleaned by janitorial staff amid the pandemic, but also put janitors and their families in a tough situation.

“With fewer hours, we are still asked to maintain building standards during the pandemic,” Rosales said in the press release. “Our families are consistently squeezed financially with the uncertainty of whether we will work enough hours to get by.”

(GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- According to Fortune Business Insights™, The global household cleaning products market size is expected to reach USD 312.49 billion by 2027, exhibiting a CAGR of 4.97 % during the forecast period. The growing emphasis to uphold a clean and hygienic household environment can be an essential factor augmenting the growth of the market during the forecast period. The market size stood at USD 163.98 billion in 2019.

    Key Market Driver:

Rising Awareness about Clean-labelled Products to Boost Market

The shift from artificial and harsh chemical products to green and natural products by consumers owing to the rising environmental knowledge will bolster the healthy growth of the market. The increasing demand for natural and clean-labeled products has led to high production and supply of green household cleaning products. The increasing environmental concerns have generated the necessity for all-natural products, which, in turn, will enable speedy expansion of the market. The increasing environmental initiatives by authorities is expected to push the development of organic products, which, in turn, can strengthen the market in the forthcoming years.

    COVID-19 IMPACT

Cleaning and Disinfection of Households to Eliminate Coronavirus

The COVID-19 pandemic is predicted to have an excellent impact on the global market. The rising consciousness regarding hygiene and cleanliness at homes will spur opportunities for the market. The inflated demand for household cleaning products has led to the scarcity of such products. The rising pressure on manufacturers to elevate their production capacities in this crisis will further benefit the market. The growing implications and concerns regarding the spread of the virus will fuel demand for cleaning products.  Moreover, the long-term effect of the virus will simultaneously incite cautiousness among people, which, in turn, will augur well for the market.

Covid-19 hospitalizations drop, but January has been the deadliest month of the pandemic. Here’s what to expect next

For the first time in almost two months, less than 100,000 Americans are hospitalized for Covid-19.

Sunday, the United States reported 95,013 Covid-19 hospitalizations, according to data from the COVID Tracking Project. And 97,561 patients were hospitalized Saturday. The last time the number was below 100,000 was December 1.

Yet the seven-day average of new cases is still about the same as it was December 1. Even worse, the average number of daily deaths is more than double what it was then.

January has been by far the deadliest month of the pandemic. More than 95,245 people have died from Covid-19 so far this month, surpassing December’s total of 77,486 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University.

“Right now it’s the worst of possible worlds. It’s the winter. It’s getting cold out, people are together more, there’s still a critical number of people in the United States who don’t wear masks, who don’t social distance,” said Dr. Paul Offit, a member of the Food and Drug Administration’s vaccine advisory committee.

“I think the next six weeks or two months are going to be rough. I think we could have another 100,000, 150,000 deaths.”
