So how clean is your house?  I bet exceptionally clean. Being a cleaning specialist means more than keeping your home safe, but your work environment as well.  Working in the healthcare setting means there are additional variables which go into the cleaning.  One is Bloodborne Pathogens.

We want to make sure we do not carry such a thing home.  Keeping yourself prepared with PPE and knowing symptoms of certain diseases will mean you can stay safe.

We should follow all CDC protocols as well as our facility's individual protocols.  Keeping in line with protocols means fewer instances of disease.

Bloodborne pathogens are invisible to the human eye, so it's easy to dismiss the threat they pose to people and become careless while handling bio-hazardous waste.

It is extremely important for every cleaning crew member to know about the bloodborne pathogens, controls and precautions, such as signs and labels, segregation of waste, special container, PPE, and universal precautions for their own safety and for the safety of clients as well.

As employers we need to educate our cleaning crews on the seriousness of those microorganisms and stress the importance of following the universal precautions and using personal protective equipment properly to keep themselves and people around them out of harm's way.

Every cleaning employee should receive training on BPP to acquire the necessary knowledge on how to stay safe and not to spread those microorganisms while handling bio-hazardous materials.

With the world we live in today and all the life threatening disease's coming to light we should all be concerned with the handling and cleaning up of all bodily fluids. With the proper training of myself and staff we will help eliminate the spread of such diseases's.

It is important to be aware of the symptoms of blood borne disease's that may be life threatening. It is also important to be sure that only properly trained individuals are handling any fluids that could be contaminated. This will also help to control the spread of infectious disease.

It is everyone's job to help educate each other on the proper handling and training to avoid spread and exposure of such pathogens. Together we can keep exposure to a minimum with knowledge and education.
