Knowing Blood Borne Pathogens

20 Aug 2026 5:03 PM | Jeff Warmuth

Cleaning Healthcare Facilities is a gamechanger all of the clients and patients that traffic through the facilities are different blood types and trained employees must stay aware of any accident or any open sores or cuts. Blood is a risk of HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) Hepatitis B, C.

I believe it's very important knowing the risk of BBP (blood borne pathogen). Notify any employees of the proper PPE (personal protective equipment), Clean and sanitize the area treat the wound dispose of the PPE properly dispose of immediately any sharp objects use the proper disposal bins and any cloth material make sure is marked correctly and disposed of properly.

OSHA follows "universal precaution" meaning we always treat blood and other fluids as infectious and to know your steps and protocols to lower the risk of being infected. For more information go to the OSHA Website and IJCSA Website.
