Clayton schools may spend $235K cleaning up charter school mold

28 Sep 2011 12:55 PM | IJCSA - (Administrator)

The mold has forced some students out of classrooms at the Unidos Dual Language Charter School, 4475 Hendrix Drive, and parents are happy to hear the problem is being dealt with however much it will cost. The $235,000 was the lowest bid received by the school district.

“Health is the main issue, you know,” parent McArthur Evans told Channel 2.

Crews working on a renovation and sound-proofing project found mold growing in the ceilings about six weeks ago. Officials walled off sections of the building, including five classrooms, and moved 100 students into portable trailers for the next few months.
