FORT WORTH -- A former North Crowley Ninth Grade Campus employee has been arrested in connection with the assault of a school janitor over Facebook postings that he made about the woman.

Voncia Deshae Johnson, 33, was arrested last week and charged Thursday with assault causing bodily injury stemming from the alleged after-hours attack at the campus of Jason Starr, 23, on Dec. 5.

A "directive to apprehend" -- similar to a juvenile arrest warrant -- has also been issued for the woman's teenage son, but he had not been arrested as of late Monday afternoon, said Sharron Neal, a police spokeswoman. He is not being identified because he is a juvenile.

On Jan. 23, New Castle County Police were called to the residence for a reported theft.

The victim told police that on Jan. 4 she noticed her engagement ring was missing from her dresser drawer and that earlier in the day, employees of her cleaning service, Better Maid Cleaning Service, had been in her home.

Police and fire officials investigated a suspicious package found at Mary Eyre Elementary School in southeast Salem shortly after a suspicious man was arrested near the school grounds Wednesday afternoon.

A student at Mary Eyre found a sealed plastic soda bottle full of liquid on school grounds about an hour and a half after Jerry Simpson, 27, was taken into custody by Salem Police. Janitorial staff at the school discarded the bottle, but discovered later in the day that the contents of the bottle were reacting, causing it to swell.

The disease that sickened more than 200 people who attended a cheerleading competition at Comcast Arena recently is norovirus, sometimes called cruise ship disease, health officials say.

And they think they’ve tracked down how the disease spread. Teens became ill with a stomach virus while at the event, said Suzanne Pate, a spokeswoman for the Snohomish Health District.

Janitorial crews were called to clean up the floors of a restroom and adjacent concourse before the awards ceremony Feb. 4, she said. The event was a competition among cheerleading and dance teams from across the state.

“Those surfaces where there was illness were contaminated,” Pate said. People could have been infected as they walked through the restroom and concourse areas if they didn’t carefully wash their hands, she said.

In response to the firing of two custodial workers over immigration paperwork issues, the Service Employees International Union Local 615 has begun efforts to get the workers reinstated.

Both workers were Harvard University custodians employed by Unicco Service Company, which the University contracts for janitorial services.

A delegation of about 15 people, primarily made up of workers, delivered a petition with more than 80 worker signatures to the Unicco offices at the Harvard Business School at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, demanding that Harvard give the two workers their jobs back.
