In todays world, we seem to want everything bigger, faster, stronger but more important better.  That goes from everything from our cars to our food that we eat and even the products that we use to clean.

Not knowing, a simple spring cleaning or a regular saturday cleaning around the house is not longer just a regular clean.  Unfortunatly, with us wanting everything better.  We have even gotten to the point that we want our household cleaners better, and to get a faster result.  Less work for a cleaner bathroom right, WRONG!

A lot of people not knowing, after a regular saturday of cleaning your home, you could be doing more harm to your family then you think.  Simple things such as all purpose cleaners contain crystalline silica which could be harmful to your eyes and skin.  Over a period of time, we could do some serious damage to not only our selves but our loved ones.

Green cleaning is growing fast and can be a solution to these harmful cleaners.  An example of a cheap green cleaning product can be simple as mixing water and vinegar.  This inexpensive alternative can be just as good if not better than store bought products.

Lets get on the healthy train and start to practice green cleaning or hire a green cleaning company to introduce us all to a healthier clean.

Due to the corona virus pandemic there is a high need of janitorial workers to ensure companies have an cleaned and disinfected environment. The risk of catching an infectious disease is at its ultimate high, however, janitors are essential workers who put their lives at risk for the public.

    WHY ARE JANITORS IMPORTANT?

It is too often that a lot of people look down on janitors and custodians. People do not realized that their comfortable in public areas are due to janitors and custodians cleaning every day. Without janitors there would be a lot of dirty and unsafe buildings. When janitors work they are not only cleaning a building but they are developing a partnership with the company. Their hard work and patience in cleaning facilities, companies, schools, and businesses keeps everyone happy. Without janitorial work buildings and public places people go to on a daily will be unsafe and dangerous. Without proper cleaning in a public area infectious diseases or chemical hazards can occur. Janitors are trained and certified to ensure a clean environment.

    WHAT IS PPE?

    PPE-personal, protective, equipment

Know what is required, be prepared by having everything you need, make sure the cleaning chart has everything you need, wait until customers leaves out, use a door stopper to open the door, put out the caution sign when cleaning, disinfect and spray all surrounding areas including toilets, make sure paper towels, tissue, and soap are full, seat covers.

Janitors are important because everyone depends on them to keep public areas safe and clean for everyone. They are also the key reason why surroundings areas are at a low chance of developing diseases. Janitors work to serve others and by that they ensure to maintain the safety in facilities so that people are comfortable.

It is important for cleaning employees and staff so that they can protect themselves in the environment they will work in. Ultimately we all want to go home at the end of the day in the same or better condition we woke up in. To be successful in that goal we follow precautions such as treating all blood as if it is infectious. Using the proper ppe to handle blood or bodily fluids. In addition to that, when the co-workers around you know the proper procedures ideally it will the team keep each other accountable. Meaning we have a atmosphere where we look out for each others benefit.

More importantly we help prevent the spread of disease and virus when we all know the precautions that need to be taken. Keep our loved ones safe from germs of which they are not even aware exist, because of our line of work its a honor to have that responsibility.

Currently, I have two vacuums, brooms, and a few bottles of muratic acid. I have a dream to be a millionaire, I know who doesnt? Anyway I still have a dream, and im willing to learn and add items to my skill set to implement so that I can live that dream. I believe I will get there and its scary because it goes against all the programming I received thru life. For example getting a good job and staying with that job until you retire. That sounds a lot safer, nevertheless, Im looking forward to learning about carpet cleaning not only to make money, id be able to employ my family and friends as well as others who are willing to satisfactory job for a client.

Carpet cleaning will be another asset to rely on, it will be one of the many tools in the belt when needed. Besides im not really sure what it will do for business, however I feel most people have carpet in their homes that they want clean. So im able to provide a necessary service and that is big because what im doing is needed.

My plan to implement a carpet cleaning program into my business is to first have a mission in mind which is to bring simplicity and automation to carpet cleaning services for homes, helping homeowners maintain a clean beautiful carpet and a beautiful home and saving them from the cost of replacing carpets. I will focus on cleaning carpets, rugs, and upholstered items and will seek to build and maintain my expertise in this area.

The area for which I would serve would be the greater South Seattle, which is an area I'm familiar with and the area I know the most people in. In addition to serving an area, I would then survey the amount of customers I can gather to build a clientele.

From this point I would use online technology to make the process of ordering, scheduling, and paying for carpet cleaning simpler for customers and myself. As far as the cleaning products, I would use environmental friendly cleaning products and stay up to date on new breakthroughs in safe and earth-friendly products and process. In order to provide good customer experience, I will already have a crew who are well trained and serviced in this area. In addition, I will provide quality assurance with a 30-day money back guarantee.

Customer Service - If everyone is responsible for it...then nobody is accountable for it.

As professional cleaners, we all must, individually, make ourselves accountable for caring and servicing our customers. This makes for a long and fruitful working relationship. Why? Well, as we all know, nobody is perfect, no matter how great of a cleaner we are. So, when things don't go as planned and the customer is unhappy, being convinced that this is an isolated incident and knowing that we actually care about their facility, will help deescalate the situation, probably before you even hear about it. This, of course, helps with RETENTION.

Customer service is not just about being "nice". It covers so much more, like, professionalism, good communication, empathy, willingness to make a correction, being sincere, being attentive, anticipating needs, providing timely solutions, resolving issues, etc.

Ase we can see, customer service is not a task to be taken lightly. We have to personalize our services to every customer and empower our technicians with the proper training so that they can properly represent your business on a day to day basis.

That's why the Customer Service Certification training course with IJCSA is an exceptional tool. Rather than generalizing, it is very specific on how we can encapsulate everything that Customer Service is.

Please consider using members of IJCSA in your facilities as we take pride and ownership of our role as cleaners and would love to implement these qualities in your facility.

Within any business, regardless of the type, your employees should always be considered as your most valuable asset. As an employer, one of my most important jobs is to make sure that all of my employees are properly educated on how to protect themselves from the many dangers within our field of work.  One of the most common dangers are bloodborne pathogens. Making sure that your employees are properly educated not only protects them, it protects your business, and your client as well.

There are many things that employees should be educated on so that they prevent cross contamination and the spread of bloodborne pathogens. For example, an employee should never attempt to compress trash with their hands, containers should be properly labeled, color coded bags must be used when necessary, and rags or sponges should never be reused. These examples are just a portion of what staff members should be educated on. Not practicing proper precautions could contaminate an entire building, which puts all of your client’s employees and customer population at risk.

As a cleaning professional, it is not uncommon to become exposed to bloodborne pathogens at one time or another. If an employee or a member of your staff is exposed, they can become gravely ill if all necessary precautions are not taken. According to OSHA, cleaning professionals should treat ALL bodily fluids as if they are infected, that is the easiest way to prevent an employee from getting infected and preventing the spread of disease. In the event an employee does become unknowingly exposed, it is important they fully understand the signs and symptoms of the different types of bloodborne pathogens such as HBV and HIV because it can be a period of time before symptoms appear. If an employee is knowingly exposed, it is imperative that they notify a supervisor immediately so that the proper protocols put in place to disinfect the area can be carried out.
