The importance of customer service in the janitorial and cleaning business and how they apply to every businesses success. Firstly customer service is the foundation for any business not just cleaning and custodial services. Creating a comfortable experience for the customer will help any business to bring back repeat customers and also help sell more product. Customer service in the custodial and cleaning sector is extremely important in order to bring back repeat customers.

The best way to maintain a steady stream of repeat and new customer referrals is going above and beyond for every customer. Going above and beyond can be something as simple as a smile. Customer service is also 90% about listening, listen to the customers complaints questions and concerns make sure you are engaged and never distracted talking to a customer.  Making the customer feel like his voice is being heard is half the battle, especially with upset customers.

Within the workplace and cleaning medical centers or even regular business areas you can run into bodily fluids. These bodily fluids can contain bloodborne pathogens, or BBPs, that can be spread through a number of different ways.

They can be transferred through blood or other infectious bodily fluids that you may come into contact then you can be exposed by touching your eyes, nose, or mouth. They can spread through cuts, abrasions, rashes, burns, or paper cuts of the skin. You can acquire it through touching or handling contaminated surfaces or materials, or you can get it from a sharp, contaminated object puncturing, cutting, or wounding the skin and “injecting” the pathogens into the bloodstream. It is important to note that people who are infected with bloodborne pathogens may not show any signs or symptoms, so it is essential that ALL persons in the workplace be considered infectious.

This means that any and all precautions must be taken to avoid contact. The best way to ensure the safety of the people is to educate them on how to treat and prevent bloodborne pathogens from spreading in the workplace. This is done by completing the training required.

Our health and safety while working is number one. In order to remain healthy and safe while on the job is having the background knowledge about the type of pathogens you can be exposed to. Bloodborne pathogens are infectious microorganisms in human blood that can cause disease in humans. For example, hepatitis B and C, HIV, and so many more. These pathogens can mostly be transmitted through a persons mouth, nose or open wound.

Employees should stay up to date with knowing the importance of wearing their face mask, gloves, goggles, and all personal protective equipment that would allow them to remain safe and protected while working. These pathogens can also be easily transmitted to the people they come in contact with if PPE is not practiced. It is vital for all employees and staff to become certified and up to date with OSHA's safety guidelines. Maximizing the awareness and important of maintaining a safe environment for everyone is very important.

Each new employee or existing employee should be required to attend a mandatory meeting on OSHA yearly, this will ensure that all employees and staff remain up to date and know how to properly notate an incident if it was to ever occur. All workers should know the proper way to remove any an all bacteria from surfaces such as chairs, counters, floors etc. Having a clean and sanitized environment can minimize the probability of becoming exposed to bloodborne pathogens.

Because proper cleaning of medical facilities is critical to the health and well being of so many people, it only makes sense to use the same cleaning practices in homes and other facilities.

Medical facility cleaning typically uses stronger disinfectants applied in a more thorough method than is typically used in standard cleaning practices. These same procedures and chemicals can be just as easily used in all cleaning situations. If medical facility cleaning procedures are widely used in all homes and buildings, it will provide a healthier living and work environment for everyone. By doing this, it will protect more people from contracting and spreading harmful diseases and viruses to others they may come in contact with in their daily lives.

It starts with choosing the correct chemical and then properly applying it, being aware of proper dwell time in order to kill viruses and germs on surfaces. Also, be aware of all high touch areas in the home or building being cleaned, and make sure these surfaces are correctly cleaned and disinfected, just as if you are cleaning a medical facility.

By following proper medical cleaning practices wherever you are cleaning, you can assure the health and well being of all who live or work in the building that is being cleaned. It is important to find properly trained cleaners, and this can be accomplished through the Janitorial Service Directory

The purpose of the Health and Safety policies and procedures is to guide and direct all employees to work safely and prevent injury, to themselves and others. All employees should be encouraged to participate in developing, implementing, and enforcing Health and Safety policies and procedures.

The safety and well-being of our employees is our number one priority. Our employees represent us and are the face of our companies. We strive to ensure that our teams have a safe and clean environment in which to work.

Awareness and education followed by safe operating policies, guidelines, and procedures can ensure that all of us stay safe at work. Following basic safety principles keep us all safe and ensure that we can all work together to ensure our safety and health is not compromised at work.

Bloodborne pathogens are an ever-present risk. Risk management best practices and risk treatment methodologies guide us to minimize risks by taking precautions to limit our exposure to known risks.

Bloodborne pathogens are infectious diseases such as Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) that may be present in blood, vomit, or saliva. Blood, vomit, and saliva can transmit infectious diseases. Bloodborne pathogens most commonly enter the human body through the mucus membrane or skin breaks such as cuts or sores.

By educating and informing employees about the risk and dangers associated with bloodborne pathogens, we increase awareness with the goal of maintaining a safe working environment.
