Oakland Township resident Dan Flynn recently set off on a mission to put his neighbors back to work. Last month, Flynn launched City Wide Maintenance of Detroit, a management company in the building maintenance industry that manages 25 facility services including janitorial.

Flynn’s entrepreneurial aspirations stemmed from a longing to help his community find work in Detroit’s unforgiving and unpredictable economic climate. Flynn is one of the many new business owners looking to help Detroit get back on their feet.

City Wide Maintenance is a national franchise building maintenance management company, based in Kansas City. Flynn’s new office in Bloomfield Township will serve commercial properties throughout the Northern Detroit Metropolitan region. Local building owners and property management companies now have access to a single-source solution for all of their building maintenance needs.

“We’ve developed a solution to end the frustration that commercial property owners and property management companies in the Detroit area feel about the amount of time and energy they’ve spent managing vendors, fielding service calls and negotiating rates,” said Flynn, president of City Wide of Michigan. “They now have full access to a round-the-clock facility services manager that will procure, schedule, monitor and ensure that all services are performed with our clients’ best interests in mind.”

City Wide has made a name for itself in major U.S. cities by streamlining commercial facilities and maintenance management of more than 20 services through a collection of service providers and alliance partners, including floor care, window washing, janitorial supplies, parking lot maintenance and several others. Taking the onus off building owners and property management companies that typically have to choose separate companies for each task, City Wide eases the selection and management processes for its clients.

Prior to launching City Wide of Michigan, Flynn had a successful career in banking and commercial real estate but became interested in the entrepreneurial opportunity and value that the City Wide model provides customers. In addition to his professional endeavors, Flynn is the treasurer and a board member of the Rainbow Connection children’s charity located in Rochester.
