In the CDC's "Ebola Guidance for Airlines" guide, the agency says Ebola spreads through "direct contact by touching the blood or other body fluids (like feces, saliva, urine, vomit, semen) of a person who is sick with Ebola.

In the same guide, the CDC also suggests cleaning upholstery, carpet or storage compartments if "they are obviously dirty."

In the "special considerations" sections, the CDC says, "Special cleaning of upholstery, carpets, or storage compartments is not indicated unless they are obviously dirty from blood or body fluids."

The guide says special vacuuming is not necessary.

When cleaning the aircraft and any contaminated areas after a flight with a sick traveler who may have Ebola, CDC suggested using "disposable protective equipment" while cleaning the cabin and restrooms.

NEW ORLEANS – A janitorial services company is suing a charter school seeking up to $28,000 involving a binding agreement made in 2012.

GCA Services Group filed suit against Capital One New Beginnings Charter School Network and New Beginnings Schools Foundation in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Aug. 19.

On Dec. 18, 2012, Sametta Brown, chief executive officer of Capital One, signed a binding agreement with GCA for certain educational services. The last payment made by Capital One upon this agreement was on June 9, 2014 for approximately $8,212.64. On April 29, 2014, GCA proceeded to send a letter to Capital One stating the total amount due, precisely $28,579.03, since the enactment of the contractual agreement.

The plaintiff is represented by George D. Fagan and Tiffany Thomas Smith of Leake & Anderson LLP.

The case has been assigned to Div. M Judge Paulette R. Irons.

Case no. 2014-08114.

A Glendale elementary school is taking no chances after a first-grader became ill over the weekend and was being treated for a serious respiratory condition, according to a letter sent to parents Tuesday.

Officials at Vistancia Elementary School said they didn't have a specific diagnosis for the illness, but were working with the Maricopa County Health Department and had relocated several classrooms to clean and sanitize surface areas, according to the letter.

A Peoria Unified School District official told CBS 5 News the district was investigating the illness as a possible case of enterovirus-68, which has been sweeping the country, but that the county health department has not been able to confirm EV-68.

Should the child test positive for EV-68, it would be the first case in Arizona, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

All but four states have reported cases of EV-68, which has symptoms similar to flu but is hard on children with asthma or other respiratory conditions. No cases have been reported in Arizona, according to the CDC.

Hazmat crews have finished cleaning the apartment of Ebola patient Nina Pham, officials said.

The second phase of the cleaning was completed Monday. Dallas city officials said no more cleaning will have to be done to the apartment. Dallas County sheriff deputies are still at the apartment keeping guard until further notice.

The yellow caution take around the apartment on Marquita Avenue in Dallas was taken down shortly before 10 a.m. on Tuesday. There is still a No Trespassing sign on her front door.

Kotowski said Alabama is the 16th state to sign an agreement to share information and coordinate enforcement.

Independent contractors pay their own employment taxes, while businesses pay those for regular employees.

Kotowski said that when workers are misclassified at independent contractors, the government misses out on revenue and workers are often denied family and medical leave, overtime pay, minimum wage pay and unemployment insurance. He said legitimate businesses are also hurt because they have to compete against businesses skirting the law.

Washington said more than 1,500 misclassified workers were found in Alabama last year. “And that number is growing each year,” he said.

Facing an avalanche of complaints about the cleanliness of Chicago Public Schools since privatizing janitorial management, a top district administrator who recommended Aramark was grilled by Board of Education officials about the $260 million contract they approved seven months ago.

Board President David Vitale asked Tim Cawley, CPS’ chief administrative officer, to address the many complaints heard during Wednesday’s meeting and in recent press accounts about filthy school conditions.

“I do take responsibility for this change we made in our facilities management,” Cawley said. “As everybody who follows CPS knows, we are facing some daunting financial challenges, so we have to strive for savings in operations and administration so we can keep funds in the classroom . . . but never would we ever compromise safety and cleanliness of our schools to accomplish those savings. “

He told the board that Aramark knows about the problems and has “flooded the zone with managers from around the country at their own expense.”

Haso USA Inc. plans to invest $7 million in a facility in Peachtree Corners at 2850 Northwoods Parkway in Atlanta Georgia. The jobs will be mainly in manufacturing and distribution, the news release from Gov. Nathan Deal’s office said.

Haso USA makes private label cleaning products for Japanese retailers and also is a contract manufacturing partner for large consumer products companies S.C. Johnson & Son and Procter & Gamble, the release said.

“In terms of choosing a location for our U.S. production facility, a large part of our decision to move to metro Atlanta was based on the relationships we developed,” Haso USA Inc. President Yuji Sogawa said in the release.

John Owen, a senior household analyst for Mintel, said their research shows 37-percent of adults would be interested in using microfiber and water to clean dirt, grease and bacteria. He added that 12-percent already use microfiber products on a daily basis...
