Finding someone you can trust to clean your home or office is not always easy. Many people offer cleaning services, but not everyone has the right training or knows how to do the job safely and properly. That’s why hiring a cleaner or company that has passed the IJCSA Residential Cleaning Specialist (RCS) Certification makes a real difference. It means they’ve been trained to understand cleaning techniques, product safety, and how to protect your home and health.

Certified cleaners know how to handle different types of surfaces, choose the right products, and disinfect areas without damaging anything. They pay attention to details and follow the highest safety standards. When you hire someone who has completed the IJCSA certification, you can feel confident that the job will be done right every time.

Another important advantage is professionalism. IJCSA-certified cleaners are serious about their work. They show up on time, respect your space, and care about your satisfaction. Choosing a certified professional is not just about getting a clean home — it’s about peace of mind, trust, and quality service you can rely on.

As someone who works in the cleaning and janitorial industry every day, I know how important it is for all cleaning employees and staff to understand bloodborne pathogens. These are viruses and bacteria that can be carried in human blood, like Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and HIV, and they can cause serious illness if we’re exposed without protection. In our line of work, we may not always know what kind of situation we’re walking into, and sometimes accidents happen — a cut, a spill, or a sharp object that wasn’t disposed of properly. That’s why knowing how to handle these situations safely is not just part of the job — it’s a way to protect ourselves, our coworkers, and the people we clean for.

At Georgia Commercial Maintenance and Cleaning Service, I make sure that everyone on our team is trained in bloodborne pathogen safety and knows how to follow OSHA’s safety standards. This means using proper personal protective equipment (PPE) like gloves and masks, cleaning up spills the right way, and disposing of any potentially contaminated materials safely. We also make sure to use EPA-approved disinfectants that are proven to kill harmful pathogens. I believe that when employees know what they’re dealing with and how to respond, they can do their jobs confidently and safely without putting their health at risk.

Keeping up with this kind of training is a big part of our overall mission to provide safe, healthy, and responsible cleaning services. Just like with our IJCSA Green Cleaning Certification, understanding bloodborne pathogens shows that we take both health and safety seriously — for our employees and for our clients. It’s all part of being a professional cleaning company that truly cares about people. By staying educated, using the right tools, and following safety procedures every day, we help create cleaner, safer, and healthier environments for everyone we serve.

The training really helps employees recognize potential hazards, how to us PPE correctly, and follow decontamination and disposal procedures.

Being well informed, our staff will be able to not only protect themselves but also reduce the risk of spreading infections to there, ensuring a safer environment for all.

Proper education on bloodborne pathogens is not just a regulatory requirement, but a critical component in fostering a safe and healthy workplace.

Help minimize the exposure of bloodborne pathogens to employees and yourself, is an integral part of housekeeping or janitorial services.  Our susceptibility increases depending on the type of cleaning we are doing, and is not limited.  However, maintaining universal precautions can decrease your chances of that exposure and contact.

By placing emphasis on universal precautions with employees you can reduce the likelihood of being exposed to diseases and illnesses such HIV and Hep B.  However, these are not the only types of illnesses that could potential harm an employee.  Unfortunately, there is potential to exposure by open wounds (cuts, scratches) on your hands, or arms as an example.  You can also be open to possible infection through mucus membranes or exposure with open needles.  It is important to wear appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) while cleaning to limit this.  Gloves, face masks, and gowns help limit these exposures and keep employees safe.  Educating employees on the importance of PPE during cleaning can greatly reduce that risk along with proper disposal.  We do not know if another person has these illnesses, but with PPE we can protect ourselves from that potential harm.  Treating each area we clean, as if it had already been exposed to a potentially harmful illness or disease.

Cleaning this way, not only protects yourself, your employee, but also treats the area limiting anyone else's exposure.  This helps contain the spread of illness, infection and disease.

Janitors play a vital role in keeping our surroundings safe and clean. Every day, they ensure that our schools, offices, hospitals, public places, factorys, free of dirt, germs, and waste. Their hard work prevents the spread of diseases and creates a healthy environment where people can learn, work and live comfortably. Without janitors, our daily spaces would quickly become messy and  out of control.

Beyond cleaning, janitors also help maintain buildings and equipment. They often Handel small repairs, restock supplies, and make sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. Their attention to detail ensures that lights are working, restrooms are stocked, garbags are empty, windows are clean, and hallways are sale to walk through. This makes everyone's day to day life easier and more productive, even if we don't always notice their efforts.

Janitors deserve appreciation because they preform some of the hardest and most essential work in our community. They work early mornings, late nights, after close, and weekend to keep places clean for others. Janitors make our world a cleaner, healthier, and better place to live every single day.  Their contributions remind us that every role in society, no matter how humble it may seem, ALL of us play a  role in this world, janitors are essential. Janitorial staff come with all kinds of different titles just do me a favor and thank more janitors/maids when you see them cleaning!
