Bloodborne Pathogen Safety

11 Jan 2021 10:02 PM | Deleted user

It is very important for the employees and staff who are responsible for cleaning to know about bloodborne pathogens and the safety measures to be taken. An employer is by law, required to provide proper training to his/her employees regarding bloodborne pathogens.

Bloodborne pathogens are infectious microorganisms present in the blood that can cause disease in humans. These pathogens can include HBV, HCV, and HIV. When an employee understands the safety of this training they understand the responsibility of proper use of personal protective equipment, vaccines, and also steps to take to report a potential exposure.

Being able to handle potentially hazardous materials such as blood, vomit, and bodily fluids is so crucial when it comes to doing your cleaning duties, and unfortunately, at times unavoidable when working at a medical or dental facility.
