article on the harmful effects of using everyday cleaning chemicals compared to using natural green products

Doing the IJCSA Green certification has taught me alot about natural solutions as opposed to chemical solutions for cleaning. As a janitorial business  owner, I've come across  cleaning products that have been labeled as ‘green’, ‘eco-friendly’ & ‘biodegradable’, these terms usually refer to products that are nontoxic, noncorrosive and noncarcinogenic, and been quite amused by the labeling.

Many people are intrigued by the concept of Eco-Friendly cleaning, of those some are skeptical just as i am– I would sometimes think and ask myself, can natural products and ingredients really clean as efficiently as chemically based products? How do natural cleaning products compare to traditional chemical products, is there really a big difference?

When looking for chemical free products I usually look for a “Green Seal” certification for more rigorous eco-friendly standards. In my investigation, i have realised that certification is voluntary, so some eco-friendly cleaning products may carry no certifications at all but are still safe and effective.

I've come up with the possible comparison of both. For chemicals, the concept of a “chemical” cleaner is a general one that involves multiple ingredients in different quantities and for different uses. While chemical cleaners certainly do the job they’re made for, they also come with plenty of possible risks. Risks that may affect you in the long term with diseases such as certain types of immune disfunctions or even caner.

As opposed to Chemical cleaners, there are Natural cleaners. It is sometimes referred to as Eco Friendly products. They offer a thorough, deep clean without the harmful odors and residue that are often left behind after harsh, commercial chemicals are used. The benefits associated with using greener, environmentally friendly cleaners go far beyond the elimination of toxic fumes. In some cases, they may actually be able to preserve the surfaces of custom-made, high-end equipment/furniture making them look their best and perform better for longer periods of time.

In my view, green cleaning products go far beyond helping the natural world we live in. They also offer benefits within our work environment that allow your staff to work more efficiently and have a better overall outlook about where they spend the majority of their days. Nontoxic cleaners will not only brighten your workplace but will also improve the atmosphere, and your life. You may even live to cross 100 years old, which is my soul's intention!!!

Thank you.

Khadija.
