The importance of cleaning staff's knowledge of bloodborne pathogens

03 Nov 2020 3:48 PM | Anonymous

It is paramount that cleaners of any type know what bloodborne pathogens are to properly protect themselves and others from infection & to prevent the spread of disease.

The proper use of PPE, how to properly sanitize areas where bloodborne pathogen exposure has occurred or may have occurred & what to do if exposure does occur is all essential information in order for cleaning professionals to do their job, protect their clients & the general public.

It is also important for them to know the risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens & what protocol to follow if accidental exposure has occurred to minimize the chance of the spreading of disease. In certain fields, exposure risks are greater than others but knowing how & when to use PPE &   the right chemicals and tools when cleaning up bloodborne pathogens, is key to protect themselves & others.
