Importance of Proper Bloodborne Pathogen Training

23 Jun 2020 12:25 PM | Deleted user

Bloodborne Pathogens can be harmful or even deadly for employees who come in daily contact with them.  It is imperative to follow the Osha guidelines in order to keep yourself and others around you safe.  As stated in the video, this can be a matter of life and death.

Pathogens carrying diseases such as HBV & HIV can travel through the nasal cavities and the mouth if proper protective equipment is not worn.  Goggles, gloves, and sanitizing cleaning materials keep employees safe from bloodborne pathogens if they are utilized correctly.  It is also imperative that the proper cleaning and storage methods are utilized as well.

All staff that could come in contact with bloodborne pathogens should be aware of proper cleaning methods to ensure no one gets sick.  Equipment should not be reused and surfaces should not be cleaned in a manner that allows for the infected items to spread.  Storage containers for contaminated items should be designated and shouldn't allow for any leakage or spilling of the contaminated items.  Following these guidelines will ensure the safety of all workers that come in contact with bloodborne pathogens.
