Bloodborne pathogens are nothing to sneeze at.

20 May 2020 9:38 AM | Steve Mcleod

Bloodborne pathogens are nothing to sneeze at. They are infectious microorganisms that can cause disease and death in humans. They were here before us and they're not going away anytime soon. Humanity in its ingenuity has created methods and antimicrobial s for minimizing exposure through cross-contamination. Understanding the viral pathways for infecting humans is part of the knowledge necessary for containing these life-threatening pathogens, which may exist in a person's bodily fluids.

Personnel providing cleaning and disinfecting services are likely at a higher risk than the general public for contacting blood-borne pathogens. Therefore knowledge with personal protective equipment, handling of antimicrobial chemicals, cleaning procedures and cleanliness verification is crucial for a successful cleaning and disinfecting project, in which personnel are safe, and the needs of the client are met.

Management also has unique responsibilities such as continuing education in procedures, equipment and emerging technologies, while maintaining proper insurance, truth in marketing and cleaning personnel education and training.
