The Importance about Bloodborne Pathogen Proper Training for Employer and Staff

Bloodborne Pathogens are microorganisms found in human blood and can be a cause of human diseases such as Hepatitis B, HBV, HIV but not limited to. Bloodborne pathogens can be transmitted through body fluid such as vomit, blood, saliva, etc... when in contact with an unprotected person.  Therefore it requires proper training in order to prepare individual for needed procedures when performing work in such affected area. 

Appropriate protective equipment is critical for protecting individuals when working in possible contaminated areas. It is important to wear adequate approved protective equipment, every time when dealing human body fluids to avoid direct exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens. Gloves (latex or nitrile), gowns, face masks, and eye protection are some of the required equipment to be worn while dealing with possible contaminated areas.  There are Universal Precautions to be followed. By using universal precautions, when handling all human body fluids or cleaning items or potentially infected area can reduce contamination.

Proper hand washing before and after exposure to potential hazards when dealing with Bloodborne Pathogens as well as throughout the day is the key. Maintaining the work area properly cleaned and sanitized will provide additional safeguards from transmission. Offering proper training to all employees in the workplace will help to prevent transmissions but will also be your greatest investment for a healthier work environment.
