The Importance of Bloodborne Pathogen Training

30 Apr 2020 12:31 PM | Deleted user

It's imperative that we in the cleaning business understand the importance of being knowledgeable about bloodborne pathogens. Pathogens are disease causing microorganisms present in human blood and most bodily fluids. With the potential for these fluids to carry dangerous pathogens, we must take what's known as universal precautions to protect ourselves from contracting a potentially dangerous and deadly disease.

This means we should always assume that blood and bodily fluids are contaminated and that we should follow proper protective practices when handling a cleanup or exposure. Be aware that we can be most commonly infected when pathogens come in contact with a person's mucus membrane like the nose or mouth, or when there is a break in the skin. This is why wearing proper protective gear is so important.

Taking approved training and being knowledgeable about the hazards of bloodborne pathogens while cleaning is important in helping to create a safe work environment for us and our staff.
