Understanding the importance of employees & staff knowing about bloodborne pathogens. First, we must understand what a Bloodborne pathogens is Bloodborne pathogens are pathogenic microorganisms that are present in human blood and can cause disease in humans.  Within the workplace, staff can be placed in situations where they may be at higher risk for exposure. 

Thus the importance of understanding the following key points to increase precaution and enhancing tools in preventing serious illness and/or death.  In creating a better understanding, the Bloodborne Pathogens Standard for the workplace Guidelines has been developed to eliminate and or reduce exposure to bloodborne pathogens.   

Within the workplace, knowing what the risk and/or exposures are is extremely important.  To be successful in protective practices, staff/employees need to expand their competencies on knowing the risks and what to due in case of exposure occurring.

This training is to help individual cleaning staff enhance their skills with the information and have a clear understanding of their responsibilities in the workplace.  Training within each workplace environment is key to keeping safe.  Each staff member has the responsibility to use protective measures, which means handing, knowing risks, using protective gear, and using universal precautions daily.  Lastly, knowing what to do in case of exposure.
