Bloodborne Pathogens

23 Mar 2020 9:58 AM | Anonymous

It is essential that cleaning personnel understand the risk and seriousness of the possibility of coming into contact with pathogens- blood or body fluids while cleaning. These risks can make someone very sick or even cause death. Understanding the risks involved will help everyone avoid the illness.

Employing proper protocols like wearing gloves, goggles, protective wear and even using appropriate technics like: ensuring there isn't a splatter when cleaning, not manually compressing garbage, labelling bags properly to indicate what is in it. It is essential they understand how these pathogens can enter the body so they are precautious.

It is also essential for employees to have this training so that they know to assume all blood or body fluids are infectious. It is also important that they know the procedures they should employ if they believe they may have been affected by pathogens.

With the full understanding of blood borne pathogens one will aid in making spaces safe for them and others.
