Warning! Cleaning products are hazardous to your health.

History has shown many believe cleaning with your typical household cleaners to be the best way to rid your environment of germs, dirt and bacteria.  While this is true in some forms, what are the risks of using your mom's typical cleaning products in your surroundings to clean?  How hazardous are these cleaning chemicals to your health and the environment?

Studies have shown that substances in your typical house hold cleaning products include fragrances, glycol ethers, surfactants, chlorine, solvents, harmful metals, and many other substances that are extremely hazardous to your health and the environment.  Recent studies have shown such chemicals to cause asthma, skin irritation, and are even carcinogenic causing a host of health problems.  As an example chlorine used in many household cleaners reacts with organic materials in the environment to create hazardous and carcinogenic toxins which have been known to cause reproductive, endocrine, and immune system disorders.

In addition to severe health risks to people and pets is the harmful affects it has on the environment.  Chlorinated compounds are a prime cause of atmospheric ozone loss making it a harmful substance for our environment.  The question now becomes not just how clean we want our surroundings to be, but how healthy we want ourselves and the environment to be.  Do we want to just rid ourselves of germs and bacteria, or hazardous toxins harming our health and environment too
