Importance of Janitors

18 Mar 2020 8:23 AM | Deleted user

Janitors are important to our everyday lives because they keep our schools and workplaces safe, clean, and free from bloodborne pathogens, which can potentially cause fatal disease. Without the work of janitors, students, workers, and the general public would be at greater risk for injury and illness.

Janitors maintain floors in buildings and must look for anything on the property where they work that is unsafe or in need of repair. They must also respond to any unexpected problems that arise or to requests that are brought to their attention.

By following proper cleaning and disinfecting practices, with appropriate chemicals and techniques, janitors greatly reduce the risk of illness from bloodborne pathogens, which are found in blood and other bodily fluids and can cause serious or even fatal disease. Janitors are responsible for not only cleaning and disinfecting bathrooms, but also for ensuring they are properly stocked with necessary items such as toilet paper, paper towels, and soap.

Janitors perform a variety of functions, all the with goal of making sure the buildings they work in are suitable for everyone to use and enjoy.
