Maids charged with grand theft

Two maids in The Villages have apparently been cleaning up really well.

Susan Bays, 44, of Summerfield, and Valerie Sue Kennedy, 48, of Fruitland Park, were both arrested during the past week in separate incidents after being accused of stealing jewelry from the homes they had been employed to clean up.

Sumter County Sheriff's officials said both women confessed and were charged with grand theft.

Both were jailed in lieu of $2,000.
