Four die in bid to clean compost tank

At least, four labourers died on Sunday when they stepped down for cleaning an underground compost tank of a paper factory at the Model Town Humak in the jurisdiction of the Sihala Police Station.

Two other labourers were rescued, but their condition is stated to be critical.

According to information from the Sihala Police as well as people living around, labourers were assigned the task to clean the compost tank of the paper factory, in which raw material was soaked in chemicals for turning it into thick paste used for paper-making.

According to information available from the Sihala Police Station, four labourers, who lost their lives, were identified as Naeem Shehzad, Ayaz Gul, Shahid Farooq and Wasim. Police till filing of this report could not make the names of the two survivors available.
