Utica, N.Y. - The world's largest LED free-hanging chandelier was lowered today at the Stanley Theatre. The 7,000 pound chandelier is getting some tuning up by Meyda lighting for the next couple of days. They were busy wiping it down and vacuuming the dust out. According to Max Cohen, Director of Hospitality Marketing at Meyda Lighting, they will also be running a couple of tests during the night to see if the new equipment  is up to par so there are not any problems in the middle of a show.

The one plus is that since it is lit by LED lights, there are no light bulbs that need to be replaced. But because the chandelier has not been lowered since 2008, the Meyda crew is going through to check everything to make sure that the equipment they are using is still working and find ways to make it brighter and use less power.

It is important to keep the light fixture in tip top shape, "This fixture is heirloom quality, something I hope my children and children's children will have to look after," Cohen says.
