HOOVER, AL -

The Hoover Police Department is investigating the death of a contracted janitor at the Marriott Renaissance Ross Bridge Golf Resort & Spa.

 “We did receive a 9-1-1 call at 5:19 this morning," Hoover police captain Gregg Rector told Alabama's 13. "An employee at Ross Bridge Renaissance resort found an individual lying in the floor -- obviously deceased.”

The murder victim was on the floor in a downstairs corridor. The area is an employee-only area connecting the kitchen to the loading dock.

“The victim is a contract worker who works for a janitorial service that does cleaning for the hotel." The dead man, according to police, worked for a contract janitorial service, HSS Hospitality Staffing Solutions based in Atlanta.

The victim was not alone last night .Rector says the man was part of a crew that showed up for work last night about 10:30 or 11 p.m.
