Finding mold growth in your home or business can be concerning, and choosing the right professional to evaluate the situation is an important first step. Members of the International Janitorial Cleaning Services Association (IJCSA) include cleaning and restoration professionals who understand the importance of proper procedures when dealing with mold cleaning, water damage cleanup, flood damage restoration, moisture control, mold-contaminated surfaces, and property restoration. Mold is often associated with an underlying moisture problem, so simply wiping away visible growth may not address the conditions that allowed it to develop. A knowledgeable professional can help determine the appropriate cleaning approach and recognize when a situation requires specialized mold remediation or other qualified services.

When searching for a mold cleaning company, consumers should consider training, experience, safety procedures, personal protective equipment, contamination-control practices, and the provider's specific scope of services. This is particularly important following a leaking pipe, roof leak, basement water intrusion, flooding, or other moisture event. Proper mold cleanup, flood cleanup, water damage cleaning, moisture management, and restoration cleaning can help protect the property and reduce the risk of contamination being spread to unaffected areas. Consumers should also ask prospective providers how they determine whether a mold problem is within their scope or should be referred to a specialized mold remediation professional.

If your home or business has experienced flooding, water damage, or conditions that may contribute to mold growth, start by finding a knowledgeable cleaning or restoration professional. IJCSA members can provide consumers with access to professional cleaning expertise, and the IJCSA Flood Damage Directory is a useful resource for locating companies offering flood damage, water restoration, and related cleaning services in your area.
