Why is it important to know about Bloodborne Pathogens.

20 Sep 2021 8:44 AM | Paola Montiel

It is important and crucial to know what are the Bloodborne Pathogens and how to prevent exposure at the worksite. Not only people working in the healthcare industry but also the janitors, front cleaners, supervisors and managers should be familiar with the prevention of exposure to B.B.P.

Learning about safety,  handling and disposal of contaminated sharps, needles and other potentially infectious materials (OPIM) is the best way to be prepared and help prepare your employees for a better and safer way to handle bloodborne pathogens.

Using the appropriate personal protective equipment will prevent you from potential exposure. For example; gloves, goggles/ safety glasses, face shields, media gowns or lab coats.
