One of the most interesting things learned through the IJCSA Master Green Cleaning course was how many traditional cleaning chemicals commonly used in homes and businesses may negatively affect human health and the environment. Learning about volatile organic compounds (VOCs), chlorine-based products, ammonia, petroleum-based solvents, synthetic fragrances, and other hazardous ingredients helped demonstrate how dangerous some conventional cleaning products can be. The course explained how these substances may contribute to respiratory irritation, poor indoor air quality, environmental pollution, and long-term health concerns. At Purge Masters Inc., this information was especially important because many of our projects take place in sensitive environments such as hospitals and healthcare facilities where indoor air quality, cross contamination and occupant safety are critical.

Another valuable part of the IJCSA certification was learning about the many benefits of green cleaning systems and natural cleaning alternatives. The course covered the use of microfiber cleaning materials, HEPA filtration, steam cleaning, hydrogen peroxide, vinegar, baking soda, biodegradable cleaning products, and environmentally friendly sanitation methods. Purge Masters Inc. found it particularly interesting to learn how green cleaning programs can improve worker safety, reduce environmental impact, lower liability, and even improve productivity and morale within facilities. The certification also provided insight into topics such as ecology, sustainability, biodegradable products, greenwashing, and the importance of reducing chemical waste and pollution in the cleaning industry.
