The importance of cleaning employees & staff knowing about bloodborne pathogens.

27 Mar 2026 4:12 AM | Jason Torigian

Knowing how to handle a bloodborne pathogen is a base foundation for any employee working within the commercial cleaning industry, as we are most likely the first line of defense against infectious diseases. When an employee is fully trained and understand the risks of infectious diseases, they can not only act with confidence, but also recognize potential hazards and in turn, prevent accidental exposure.

Bloodborne pathogen training is beyond basic or any formal training and empowers staff to use the appropriate precautions. By fully being aware of the "how and "why" of wearing gloves, understanding color coded bins, and apply specific disinfectants, employees can eliminate the likelihood of contaminations. This proficiency maintains a standard level of hygiene that prevents the contamination of public spaces as well as keeping employees and occupants safe.

Finally, by raising a standard and prioritizing Bloodborne Pathogen training we are enforcing a culture of legal compliance, as well as respect within an organization. Training can demonstrate that management values the health and lives of their employees, which can of course boost moral and lead to less anxiety when tasked with difficult duties. To add, staying proficient adds to regulatory, OSHA standards as well as protecting your company from costly fines and liabilities. In the end, a highly proficient and trained crew are the backbone of a healthy and clean space.
