Hundreds of county workers protested in downtown Los Angeles on Tuesday over proposed cuts to janitorial jobs at county hospitals.

It's the first of several protests against a board of supervisors plan to close the budget gap.

Dozens of janitors working for the county and workers supporting them turn out at the Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration on Temple Street before dawn with drums, songs and picket signs.

I couldn't help but snap a photo of this product with my cell phone after I saw it near the checkout stand at a Home Depot.

The packaging for this all-purpose home cleaner looks identical to the packaging for fruit juice. If I was a parent I don't think I'd want that in my home in case a child reached for it thinking it was juice. Or imagine throwing a party and someone pouring it in the punch bowl thinking it was fruit punch.

Three hundred million people suffer from asthma worldwide, and its costs to our kids, families, and society are growing. Today, on World Asthma Day the Global Initiative for Asthma is raising awareness about asthma by launching a campaign to reduce asthma-related hospitalizations by 50 percent in five years. But we also need to reduce exposure to conditions that aggravate asthma and trigger asthma attacks.

Let’s face it; people are networking online during their workday. And some of those people broadcast work-related gripes or post inappropriate pictures. Search engines index that content, creating a trail of digital dirt that can soil a company’s image for years.

Because the lines between personal and professional sharing are blurred, it’s imperative to develop social media guidelines so everyone who works at your company understands how to represent themselves and the company online.

LOS ANGELES - Lindsay Lohan will soon be carrying a bucket around folks who've just kicked one.

The "Mean Girls" star has one week to enroll in the community service program at the Los Angeles County morgue, a judge ruled Friday.

She must serve 120 hours with the coroner, doing maintenance and janitorial work in areas where dead bodies are a common sight, a spokesman told the Daily News.

"She will empty trash, vacuum, clean restrooms," Asst. Chief Ed Winter of the Los Angeles County Coroner said.

"She won't be in the autopsy area. However, there will be some exposure to bodies. She'll see them but won't touch them."

Lohan completed a much shorter drunken-driving program at the morgue as part of her original sentence for back-to-back DUIs in 2007.
