While there are a lot of household uses for white vinegar, it’s not always the absolute best bargain out there.

We’ll use the fabric softener example that Calista points out. As she mentions, it’s often recommended that you use one cup of white vinegar instead of fabric softener in a load of laundry. I often use half a cup myself, except on extremely heavy loads, and it seems to do all right in terms of making the clothes soft.

So, what does that cost? If you can purchase a gallon of vinegar for $2.39, and there are 16 cups in a gallon, you can do 16 loads of laundry with vinegar as the fabric softener for $2.39. That gives you a cost of 14.9 cents per load for white vinegar as a fabric softener.

It now houses eight employees, and that number will soon grow to nine

Most of the Tennessee Titans likely wanted to forget every second of their visit to Pittsburgh. The team got beat up by the Steelers on Sunday, 38-17, and surely hurried through the airport without a look back. But for one rookie, a defensive back named Tommie Campbell, there was a good reason to sneak a glance around. Campbell spent a good deal of time at that airport during his college days, and not just because he played for a while at the University of Pittsburgh.

“We know this may sound silly and get a bit yucky, but we’ve got a very good reason for starting the “Dirty Mop Contest,” says Matt Morrison, communications manager for Kaivac.

“We want cleaning professionals as well as the public to become more aware of just how contaminated a mop can become. In fact, many times you’re better off not cleaning at all than to clean with a dirty mop.”

Flu season is at hand, and in past years that meant parents of Ledyard students would send Clorox wipes and other cleansing products to school to sanitize desktops, table tops, lockers and so on. In fact, one school board member said, teachers sometimes would request these items in a “wish list.”
