Just like an old locomotive train that takes off slowly then picks up speed overtime, green cleaning is picking up speed and becoming more and more accepted within the cleaning industry and outside the marketplace. Similarly to CFCs, toxic and harmful cleaning chemicals will become something of the past, as manufacturers bend to the global pressures to produce environmentally friendly chemicals. There are certain best practices that will emerged from implementing a green cleaning program.

Green cleaning is a system that employs both green chemicals and green equipment. However, a successful green cleaning program is not just a matter of having the right cleaning products. We must remember there is a great deal of marketing that has gone into the promotion of many of these pretty looking, sweet smelling and dangerous to health cleaning chemicals existing on the market. Many people have become used to using these chemicals over a sustain period and will not just give them up easily. Therefore achieving buy-in by all stakeholders is critically important.

There are experts on the market that have offered advice on the subject and the International Janitorial Cleaning Services Association (IJCSA) offers certification in Green Cleaning https://www.ijcsa.org/Green-Certification-Course . The way I plan to implement green cleaning into my business will follow the following procedures:

Conduct a baseline audit – I will conduct a baseline audit to determine how much of the harmful chemicals I have in stock and how to treat with the disposal of these chemicals. Secondly, I will secure suppliers of green cleaning chemicals and determine what are the best green cleaning products on the market. I might even mix my own green cleaning products. Thirdly, I will ensure to formulate green cleaning procedures. Procedures and guideline ensure products are used safely and securely to promote good health and safety. Fourthly I will conduct training workshops to educate staff and other stakeholders on the benefits of green cleaning. With IJCSA’s green certification in hand, I will market and promote my business as “Green” and “Environmental Friendly” on as many platforms as possible.

I own and operate Operation Clean a cleaning business in WA State we are a rainy state and what comes hand in hand with rain ? Damp cool air and with that damp cool air brings a high risk of mold especially around windows in bathrooms and behind furniture . I have faced minor mold cleaning many times throughout the years in the winter and spring actually some years is so moist here I am doing minor mold cleaning all year round .

I plan on implementing the knowledge I just gained from the IJCSA Mold Inspection Certification Course by insuring proper PPE is worn every time I am cleaning mold spores , will take the necessary precautions to not spread mold spores to different areas , make a decontamination plan for me and employees following cleaning . Be able to identify signs of mold for my clients .

Bloodborne Pathogens are microorganisms found in human blood and can be a cause of human diseases such as Hepatitis B, HBV, HIV etc..  These pathogens can be transmitted through a number of bodily fluids such as blood, mucous and saliva. Proper training will help keep the individual safe from  many of these diseases and also help stop the spread unto others.

There are UNIVERSAL PRECAUTIONS set forth by OSHA that provide guidelines in the necessary handling of these bloodborne pathogens to keep a safe and clean environment. Using the right PPE equipment (gloves, gowns, masks, eye protection etc,) and safety measures such as proper disposal of contaminated sharps, handling laundry and the cleaning and disinfecting of contaminated surfaces will help stop the spread of these many deadly diseases .

As professionals our highest priority should be the safety and well being of all individuals at risk where there are possible contaminants. By doing so we can help contribute to a safer environment and reduce sickness and death caused by many of these blood borne pathogens. Improper handling of these situations have not only caused many people to become ill, but have also caused many unwanted lawsuits that have affected  institutions worldwide.

"Why Being A Green Cleaner Or Green Cleaning Company Is Better Than Being A Cleaner Or Company That Uses Hazardous Chemicals"

Green cleaning is a nessisity in today's world.  We have the internet and we know the hazards that cleaning chemicals produce.  If you are ignorant to the dangers of cleaning products, it is only because you haven't looked for the information.

Chlorine Bleach or Sodium Hypochlorite is a commonly suggested disinfectant, it is commonly used in our drinking water, but is it safe?  The answer is, not really.  Turns out the byproducts of bleach disinfection are THMs such as Chlorform.  Do you want those toxic chemicals left behind on your counter space?

I will take a hard pass on the typical suggest cleaning products of today.  Lysol, Chlorox, WalBrand, they are all toxic.  With Hydrogen Peroxide and Alcohol so hard to find today, I am glad I am invested in chlorine dioxide and it is available for my disinfection needs and the needs of my customers.  When I purchased the supply for the business I had no idea there would be such an upcoming shortfall of chemicals.  Now I am glad I invested in green cleaning products, back before the market became so scarce of everyday natural disinfectants.

If you would like to know more about green cleaning practices and if you want to test the difference, the IJCSA is a great source for information on cleaning companies that specialize in Green Cleaning practices.  Give your local green cleaner a call and let them demonstrate the difference for you and your family.

Why Every Person Should Only Perform Natural Green Cleaning 4P

Green Cleaning with natural cleaning products seems like a catchy trend or phrase.  However, it is just a better knowledge of cleaning chemistry.  Most cleaning products today are highly toxic.  Each chemical has a different pathway to toxicitiy but the results are the same.

With the onset of so many types of cancer it is important to know about the side of effects of the chemicals in your life.  I lost my grandmother to the side effects of a dangerous disinfectant called Ethylene Oxide.  Whether or not the dangers were known back then is not up for discussion.  That fact is her cancer was the same type as the cancer warning for that chemical.  She died at 47, leaving behind 9 children.

Everyone should be aware of the chemicals in their surroundings.  Sometimes research on your own will do alot of good for determining toxicity.  My grandmother didn't have the luxury of the internet, but if she did she would have been in the managers office demanding the proper PPE.

If you are going to use toxic chemicals, be sure to use the proper PPE for the vapors associated with the chemical.  I highly recommend looking into green cleaning techniques.  It is about your health and the health of your customers.  It is worth the research, it just may save your life.

Why Is Green Cleaning So Important To Every Living Creature On The Earth?

Cleaning products tend to be the most dangerous chemicals people used in daily activities.  But it doesn't have to be this way.  There is a way to clean without these harmful synthetic derived chemicals.  The problem comes with the Toxicity of the cleaning product.

Are your non-natural cleaners actually safe for use inside the home?  While many say yes, when you study the literature, most will say no.  The reason, is product toxicity to the cleaner, to the receiver, but more importantly to the environment.

That is why TwinOxide is such a great disinfectant, because it doesn't stick around for long after it is done with killing the microbes.  The sunlight deactivates the chemical and leave only simple salts.  This is the type of chemical that is great for our environment because it doesn't escape the area it is used.  And if it does for some reason, it is rapidly deactivated by the natrual power of sunlight.  If other chemicals had this great property, the world would be a much better place.

Do me a favor, ask yourself what is the long term environmental impacts of this product, the next time you pick up a new product off the shelf.  Green Cleaning is important to everyone, because without it we wouldn't be looking to improve the environmental impact of cleaning products.
