Some janitorial workers seldom come in contact with the client. Others may interact with clients often. Regardless of frequency of contact, janitorial workers have an opportunity to provide excellent customer service not necessarily with their words but overwhelming with their service. Providing a clean and safe space for clients is one of the best ways to showcase your customer service skills. When clients enter a well serviced space they know you have listened to them and are in tune with their needs - and are qualified to meet those needs. And you can do all this without ever speaking a word to the client.

The IJCSA certification course emphasizes the importance of excellent customer service to all its members. Because of the attention given to customer service any potential client should have high expectations of all IJCSA members. These expectations would include listening to the needs of the client, creating solutions to meet those needs, and then professionally executing those solutions.

IJCSA and its members understand that excellent customer service is the life blood business. One thousand successful services can be nullified by just one poor service. All the work that went into sourcing a client can be for naught if customer service is ignored. Even the best service cannot overcome poor customer service. That is why excellent customer is not a tagline for IJCSA members - it’s the way we do business.

So when searching for a qualified professional cleaning service with an eye for customer service look no further than the IJCSA Business Directory.

IJCSA has a Green Cleaning Service Directory, that will give you access to companies that are green cleaning certified. Green cleaning affects every living creature on this earth and the positive effects it has on these creatures are many. From eliminating toxic chemical runoff, minimizing air pollution, and protecting complex ecosystems, the benefits of green cleaning are truly great.

Green cleaning eliminates toxic runoff by utilizing natural ingredients that break down into harmless elements before reaching any waterways. Green cleaning does not use dangerous chemical elements, like phosphates, which have ill effects on aquatic animals and all plant life within a certain area.

Green cleaning reduces air pollution drastically by using products that cut down or even eliminate the release of dangerous volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The reduction or elimination of these harmful carbon-based chemicals in the air means lowering the risk of organ toxicity, respiratory distress, and cancer risks to animals. VOCs also contribute to the production of acid rain, which negatively alters the PH levels in streams and lakes killing wildlife like fish, frogs, and invertebrates, as well as completely preventing fish eggs from hatching, usually resulting in death.

Not only does green cleaning eliminate or reduce the number of VOCs released to ecosystems, it also eliminates the use of dangerous chemical elements like chlorine. This chemical destroys fish's gills, strips their slime coat leaving them vulnerable to diseases and infections, and causes their internal organs to fail. Again, green cleaning positively affects the ecosystem by using products that contain ingredients that easily break down, as opposed to ingredients that will turn into persistent organic pollutants that build up in the fat of aquatic organisms, and the lipids and waxy surfaces of plants, who are the food source for other animals, thus continuing a constant chain of built up pollutants in wildlife, negatively affecting their health and even killing them.

Green cleaning eliminates toxic runoff, minimizes air pollution, and protects complex ecosystems, all of which benefit every living creature on earth. To find a cleaning company that is a certified in green cleaning, visit IJCSA’s  Green Cleaning Service Directory.

Bloodborne pathogens are microorganisms present in human blood and bodily fluids that can lead to dangerous diseases in those who come into contact with them. Types of bloodborne pathogens include: HIV, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C.

Those in the cleaning field are especially at risk for coming into contact with bloodborne pathogens since they may be tasked with cleaning up and sanitizing areas where bodily fluids were present.

OSHA (The Occupational Safety and Health Administration) has created industry standards which help employers and employees create a plan to remain safe on the job. By understanding the dangers of bloodborne pathogens and adhering to OSHA guidelines, employees can decrease their risk of exposure and do their jobs safely and effectively.

Properly cleaning healthcare facilities is critical because these environments host some of our most vulnerable populations. While patients visit hospitals and clinics to heal these spaces can easily become breeding grounds for healthcare associated infections if not managed correctly. A thorough and consistent cleaning routine using proper disinfectants is the best way to prevent the spread of harmful germs. When a facility is truly sanitized it protects both the patients and the medical staff.

Achieving this level of cleanliness requires specific training and attention to detail. Cleaning professionals must understand how to prevent cross contamination and know the correct dwell times for different hospital grade cleaners. It goes beyond just making a room look visually appealing to actually eliminating the invisible threats on high touch surfaces. Facility managers who want a team trained in these precise standards can easily find qualified professionals in the Janitorial Service Directory.

Ultimately keeping a medical center exceptionally clean is a vital part of patient care. When people walk into a pristine clinic they immediately feel a sense of trust and safety. By investing in highly trained cleaning teams that understand bloodborne pathogens and proper sanitation protocols healthcare facilities can lower infection rates and provide a much safer environment for everyone.  https://www.ijcsa.org/Janitorial-Service-Directory-Find-A-Janitorial-Service-JanitorialServices

Most people walk through a clean office, a sanitized hospital corridor, or a tidy classroom without ever thinking about who made that possible. Janitors and janitorial staff work largely in the background, yet their labor directly shapes public health outcomes every single day. Doorknobs, elevator buttons, restroom fixtures, breakroom counters — these are the surfaces where illness spreads fastest, and they are also the surfaces janitorial teams are trained to treat as priority zones. The work is easy to overlook precisely because it's done well; when disinfection and sanitation lapse, the consequences show up quickly in the form of illness, absenteeism, and safety hazards.

That responsibility carries the most weight in environments serving vulnerable people. In hospitals and care facilities, inconsistent cleaning protocols can contribute to healthcare-associated infections that put immunocompromised patients at serious risk. In schools and daycares, gaps in sanitation routines can speed up the spread of seasonal illness among children, pulling parents out of work and straining already limited staffing. None of this happens because cleaning is simple — it happens because it's often mistaken as simple. In reality, effective janitorial work requires real technical knowledge: correct disinfectant dwell times, proper dilution ratios, an understanding of cross-contamination between zones, and the judgment to know which areas require hospital-grade protocols versus routine maintenance.

Janitorial staff also protect people in ways that have nothing to do with germs. They're often the first to catch a slip-and-fall hazard, notice early signs of mold, manage hazardous waste correctly, and keep air-quality-related areas like vents and HVAC surroundings free of buildup. These are preventive, safety-critical tasks that most building occupants never register — until something is missed. This is exactly why credentialing matters in the janitorial field: a trained, certified cleaning technician is applying a standardized body of sanitation and safety knowledge, not just running a mop across a floor. Business owners and property managers who want to reduce health and liability risk can find vetted, trained providers through the Janitorial Service Directory rather than relying on an unverified crew.

The importance of janitorial staff became impossible to ignore during recent widespread health crises, when disinfection went from a background task to a top organizational priority almost overnight. That level of attention shouldn't fade just because the headlines have. Treating janitorial professionals as the public health workers they are — rather than as an afterthought in facility budgets — is a shift the industry still needs to fully make.

Bloodborne pathogens are microorganisms present in human blood that can cause diseases in humans. It is very important to protect ourselves from these pathogens.

The best way to protect ourselves is to learn exactly how to do so through this course that I have taken that IJCSA offers. This will be my second year, and I can say I have learned so much after learning about blood-borne pathogens . I have learned where blood-borne pathogens can be hidden and how to protect myself by handling things properly. One of the best defense is through OSHA exposure control plan.

At all times assume that blood or bodily fluids are contaminated with blood-borne pathogens. I also learned that if someone is exposed as an employer, I must maintain records for three years after that is some good information. I am so grateful for this opportunity once again this year and I’m so grateful that this program is offered at such convenience.

I have used this program time and time and time again, and it has helped me in so many ways mentally and financially, and it has helped most of all keep me and all of my staff as safe as possible given as we have all of this knowledge now and we practice everything we learn Thank you for whoever invented this:) This membership is a staple in my cleaning Business :)

Implementing a professional carpet cleaning program into my business would help maintain a cleaner, healthier, and more professional environment for customers and employees. I would schedule regular carpet and rug cleaning based on the amount of traffic and the needs of each facility. The program would include routine vacuuming, spot treatment, deep cleaning, and proper drying to help extend the life of carpets and prevent dirt, stains, and odors from building up. I would also make sure employees are properly trained and use the correct cleaning products, equipment, and safety procedures.

Having carpets and rugs cleaned by certified IJCSA members provides customers with confidence that the work is being performed by trained cleaning professionals. Certified cleaners understand proper carpet care, cleaning methods, chemical safety, and professional service standards. Regular professional cleaning can improve the appearance of carpets, help maintain a fresh and welcoming environment, and protect the customer’s investment by extending the life of their flooring. Offering this service can also help a cleaning business provide more value to customers and build long-term relationships.
