Harmful Effects of Everyday Cleaning Products vs. Natural Products

Many cleaning products and chemicals that are not green certified contain toxic ingredients that can be harmful to your health and the environment. The purpose of green cleaning products and methods is to protect and promote health, while also reducing the negative effects on the environment. When you use many cleaning products, “harmful chemicals are being released into the environment,” says Leslie Reichert, author of “Joy of Green Cleaning”. Not great for you and the people around you to breathe in. 

Green cleaning products help decrease harmful air and water pollution, ozone depletion, and global climate change because green cleaning products do not include toxic chemicals that regular cleaining products do.All-natural green cleaning has been shown to reduce health problems that are associated with allergens, chemical sensitivities and contaminants. This includes mold and bacteria. Studies have shown that spraying a household cleaner just once a week increases a persons chance of getting asthma. 

Using green products that are all-natural are known to increase worker satisfaction, improve employee morale, reduce absenteeism, promote productivity and efficiency. Green cleaning methods Improve training programs by stressing safety and cleaning procedures. This reduces injuries to custodial staff and Worker’s Compensation Claims. 

Other benefits of using Eco-Friendly cleaning methods include reducing chemical consumption and the number of chemicals needed. Promoting better inventory management of supplies and equipment, resulting in more efficient and better-planned procurement of goods. Also, using green cleaning products won’t damage surfaces over time like traditional cleaners can.
